Setup & care

Test the Location Before You Fix the Mount

Review glass, intended framing and care access before testing the actual device, with separate hardware and app references.

Review nearby glass, the intended camera frame and care access, then test the actual feeder at the proposed location before permanent installation. A phone's Wi-Fi result cannot establish the feeder's connection or supported recording tasks.

This is a local planning reference, not a current all-model mounting or app procedure. Use the matching app and guide and keep the actual hardware, batch and instructions together.

Before taking the feeder outside

Complete the matching initial charging and pairing procedure, and confirm which functions this configuration and account support. Resolve an initial setup problem before using a distant garden location to assess connectivity.

Read the mounting instructions and identify a stable, permitted way to support the unit temporarily. Do not balance it on an unstable surface or improvise a mounting part to complete the test.

Review glass and shared space first

Use the placement guide's glass review and blank glass-and-frame sheet. Identify hazardous panes and the applicable treatment, including who can approve and carry out a change. Do not substitute a feeder distance or the concept illustration for that review.

Agree on the intended feeding area with the household or site contact. Keep unnecessary private spaces out of the actual view through a permitted angle or location change. Do not make a public recording of private areas to prove that the framing needs work.

If the setup cannot address the glass or framing issue, keep the location unresolved and choose another feasible option. A stable mount and a successful connection do not settle those separate questions.

Test the actual device at each candidate spot

  1. Place the matched unit in a secure, permitted temporary arrangement with access for care.
  2. Open live view if supported and inspect the feeding area, glare and unnecessary private areas.
  3. If recording and saving are supported, retrieve an appropriate test event and check the file you can access. A notification does not verify the recording or exported view.
  4. Record the date, place description, hardware/configuration, actual app/version, task and result. Keep exact addresses, Wi-Fi credentials and account details private.
  5. Compare a different permitted spot if the needed tasks fail. Do not set a universal signal score, mounting height or coverage distance.

Use the existing location record. Test recordings should avoid unnecessary private content; if an issue remains, address it before proceeding with that position.

O-kam Pro: V8 (Blue or Green) and V10 use this app. No current all-model privacy mask, crop, activity-zone or recording-exclusion function is established here.

Vico Nature: V5, V7, V9, V11 and Adjustable Camera Feeder use this app. An activity or notification setting must not be treated as a privacy mask without checking what it actually excludes from each recording and file.

Other or unmatched apps: keep the supplied app/publisher/version; the two reviewed families are not exhaustive. Do not change apps to follow another model's tutorial.

If the test fails, identify the failed task

Separate offline status, live view not loading, no recording, no notification and an unsuitable frame. Keep the exact message and task, without a Wi-Fi password or private-area screenshot in a public post.

Use missing-recording support only for its matching task. If hardware/app/guide information conflicts, use app matching or the Nafnti contact route. This checklist does not prescribe a reset, format, rebind or paid service.

After final mounting, repeat the relevant checks

After securing the approved mount, repeat the actual connection and frame checks because orientation can change. Review care access and the permitted charging arrangement; a solar panel's needs do not override nectar care or glass hazards.

Revisit the glass, treatment condition, frame and access after the mount moves, plants change or the scene changes. If relying on a confirmed masking feature, check its scope in live view, playback and accessible saved/shared files separately. Do not claim that an edited social copy proves what the device originally recorded or that this review certifies legal compliance everywhere.
